A Quiet Walk

Artist: Rick Vermey

Year of Work: 2020

Location: Mindeerup, South Perth - Electrical substation to east of Mindeerup

Description: Inspiration for this artwork comes from the experience of quietly walking alone in native bushland. Wandering through the bush, things have a way of slipping in and out of focus, flitting between shadow and light, as first this plant and then that plant leap to the centre of vision. A collage of small momentary details is imprinted in the mind. Such tiny details as the shape of a leaf, the silhouette made by a cluster of overlapping branches or the brazen colour and form of a unique flower each capture our attention in turn, standing out in vivid relief, yet quickly receding in the shimmer.
